
2.1 Mission

The Mission of the Company Well ship Management is to provide effective ship management, to satisfy the stakeholders’ needs. Therefore our comprehensive aims are:
- To become an industry-respected company in the vessel quality management.
- To continue to expand the frontiers of our knowledge, experience and capabilities by moving in to a broad base portfolio of vessels and operations; to increase the fleet for 2 units as 2024
- To achieve a transparent and flawless operation both on our managed vessels and within the office.
- To impact any current environmental concerns in our everyday business and share the results and benefits with our customers.
2.2.1. Safety and Environmental Policy
WELLSHIP MANAGEMENT INC is committed to the policy of onboard safety, safety of personnel and environmental protection.
It is the Company policy to observe all statutory legislation and take any additional measures as necessary in order to:
- Keep company personnel accident-free,
- Prevent accidents with third parties who may be affected by Company’s activity,
- Prevent damage to ships
- Achieve zero incidents
- Perpetually improve its performance.
Safety is the responsibility of all personnel ashore and aboard. Anyone detecting any unsafe act or witnessing an unsafe practice is to take immediate action to notify the person in charge.
In achieving above stated objectives the Company is committed to the following:
- Providing safe working practices and ensure safe working environment;
- Preventing pollution and appropriate monitoring;
- Assessing risks to people and environment, and implementing adequate procedures allowing full control over them;
- Constantly improve the skill of all its employees allowing active participation in the Company’s safety culture;
- Provide training required for responding to emergencies;
- Deliver ‘Fair Culture’ principles and promote preventive attitude among all employees;
- Investigate all reported accidents or near misses and communicate results of root cause analysis;
In order to fulfil above stated commitment, all Company’s employees and those working on its behalf, are obligated to effectively implement, maintain and constantly improve Integrated Management System within the scope of their duties described in this Manual.
Safety and pollution prevention has always been the highest priority and the company is doing its best to keep it that way!
2.2.2. Quality Policy
The Company Integrated Management System is aiming at providing highest safety, pollution prevention and quality standards in compliance with requirements of ISM Code and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
The Company is committed to providing the highest quality services, responding to customers’ requirements of safe and pollution-free operations performed within the scope of the Company’s activities by:
- Ensuring that all internal operations are performed in compliance with applicable legal requirements and are providing best industry standards,
- Monitoring effectiveness of implemented safety environmental and quality programs on regular basis, conforming its applicability to safety, environmental objectives and targets,
- Controlling that quality is achieved by consistent application of the Company’s Integrated Management System,
- Providing the necessary training to the personnel responsible for the Integrated Management System,
- Ensuring the availability of required resources
The Company will ensure effectiveness and constant improvement of the Integrated Management System by introducing of improving programs and regularly reviewing their efficiency.
2.2.3. Crew health and protection Policy
It is the policy of the Company to ensure high safety standards on board, well-manned and maintained ships with good discipline and a well-trained cooperative crew.
Safety and health of the crew is the responsibility of the Master, who has the highest priority of his duties and controls implementation of the Company’s policy aboard, which is achieved by the following:
- Security of life and health always goes before ship and cargo
- The Master must ensure that all lifesaving and fire-fighting equipment is functional and crew members are trained to handle such equipment
- All good seamanship and precautions are observed to minimize risk of injury and health issues, handling ship or cargo
- All personnel must be qualified and trained to handle assigned positions
- The ship must be operated in compliance with international conventions, including SOLAS and STCW.
- The Company’s Safety Manuals are always followed
- The Company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy must be strictly followed to minimize the accident risk .
All incidents involving personnel are reported, enabling the Company to take appropriate action to prevent any further recurrence, and keep relevant parties duly advised.
2.2.4. Drug and Alcohol Policy
Masters and crewmembers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs whilst aboard constitute a danger to the ship’s safety. Therefore, WELLSHIP MANAGEMENT INC makes every reasonable effort to prevent this from happening. The following regulations are herewith issued:
- Masters and crewmembers using or dealing with drugs whilst on or off duty shall not be employed.
- Masters and crewmembers who have to consume drugs prescribed by a medical doctor have to be treated as ill. Company has to decide if they stay aboard to recover as soon as possible or they have to be repatriated.
- During the continuation of the whole contract – any consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
- The storage of alcohol on board by crewmembers is prohibited including for the purpose of delivery home after contract.
- NO ALCOHOL ON BOARD WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTIONS, including for representation purposes and private, for home delivery!
- Crew members who must be sent home due to alcohol/drugs problems will be charged for their own home traveling costs as well as for the traveling costs to the ship of the crew members changing them.
- If signs of intoxication are detected, any crew member both on board the vessel and before being sent to the contract can be directed for an alcohol test.
- This test can be carried out both on board the vessel (also in the office) by the Master (or by the Company’s representative, or by a local doctor at the request of the company) in the presence of two witnesses (for this there must be a breath analyzer on each vessel) and in other places at the request of the port authorities or company.
- Positive test results or clear signs of alcohol intoxication are sufficient to prove intoxication and will lead to the immediate dismissal of any crew member.
- Each crew member must undergo a regular medical examination for the content of drugs and alcohol, confirmed by an appropriate test result document (received simultaneously with a medical fitness certificate).
- The Master is responsible aboard for ensuring that the drug and alcohol policy of WELLSHIP MANAGEMENT INC is adhered by all crewmembers at all times.
- Each crew member should consider it his duty and honour to timely inform the Company about the use of alcohol on board, remembering that this is a safety issue, the question of saving the lives of both their crew and other people who might be involved in this matter. Remember that your relatives and friends are waiting for you on shore.
Violation of this policy shall result in disciplinary action as described in your contract.
2.2.5. On Board Smoking Policy
Company recognizes the hazards and a risk associated with both direct and passive smoking and has adopted this policy and procedure to introduce controls. Our Smoking Policy is based on below terms:
- generally, smoking is permitted outdoors except main deck. However it is only allowed in designated outdoor areas, which are indicated by the Master. Designated outdoor areas should be clearly marked and equipped as per fire safety. It is strictly prohibited to toss cigarette butts overboard.
- smoking indoor is only permitted if outdoor smoking is impossible and is allowed only in designated outdoor areas which are indicated by the Master. Designated outdoor areas should be clearly marked and equipped as per fire safety. The special attention should be paid to the fact that smoking is strictly prohibited inside all machinery spaces, cargo holds, enclosed spaces such as: paint room, boatswain’s store, CO2 room etc.
- any public area smoking should not be disturbing
- outdoor smoking is strictly prohibited during bunkering, cargo operations and mooring operations.
This part of Company Policy may be considered as a proper documentation of the smoking policy that should be followed in compliance with the ISM Code. This strict compliance with the smoking policy and the Company’s ability to provide documentary proof can strengthen the position of the company if conflicts arise as to whether shore staff or the ship’s crew start a fire by smoking in non-smoking areas.
As part of the fire prevention strategy, our company considers ensuring that all smoking materials are immediately discarded. Decent cleaning practices should be implemented to ensure that cigarette butts and wrappings are properly disposed.
Signboards and posters need to be placed in designated areas to ensure that crew and visitors are aware of the ship’s strict smoking policy.
Written and/or verbal notice should be given to stevedores concerning smoking policy that includes a signature that indicated the stevedoring company(ies) compliance with the policy.
On-board smoking policy should be strictly followed at all times.
Any crewmember that violates the smoking policy may be subject to further penalty.
2.2.7. Information Technology, Computer Security and Software Licensing
The Master is responsible for adequately protecting the data from accidental or unauthorised access, disclosure, modification or deletion.
Computer resources are to be used only for authorised company purposes and not for personal use. The Company Computers should only run on Company supplied software.
The Company is committed to complying with all Flag legal provisions governing copyright protection for computer software, thus no employee shall make or use unauthorised software copies under any circumstances. Thereby:
- the Company is committed to providing enough legitimate software to meet employees’ software needs
- employees must comply with all licensing terms and conditions that regulate the use of any software the Company acquires or uses
- employees must not make copies or install any software product that is not authorised
- work-related files to be created on vessel’s computers only. Employees are not allowed to use private computers for that purpose.
- privately owned USB flash drives/USB hard drives/CD’s/floppy discs are not allowed to be used in any way with vessel’s computers
- vessel’s Ethernet network is to be used with vessel’s computers only
- employees who violate any of the guidelines set in the policy may be subject to disciplinary action including the possibility of termination. The Company also retains the right to report any illegal violations to the appropriate authorities.
